Designed by Christoph Hehl in 1910, the St. Mary’s Church in the Berlin-Spandau district is a typical example of Romanesque revival architecture built in brick. The church’s roof - a stunning piece of German cultural heritage - had to be renewed in 2013. Etex’s concave interlocking Melodie pan tiles turned out to be cut out for the renovation job. A challenging project, especially because of the church’s central arched dome, which formed a major decagon with no less than 20 upper windows. Creaton AG’s Melodie clay tiles have contributed to this project’s success.
